Taurine

This method is an in-house method, and is applicable to infant formula based on cow and goat milk and products related to infant formula. The method is used to determine the concentration of free taurine in the provided sample.

Samples are reconstituted with water to ensure homogeneity. Trichloroacetic acid is used to precipitate the proteins and fats that are present in the sample. After centrifugation, the supernatant is filtered, diluted and analysed using liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometric detection.
