Sugar content

This method is conform NEN-EN-ISO 21884 and applicable to the following matrices: powdered and liquid products based on cow or goat milk. The method is used to determine the content of galactose, glucose, fructose, sucrose, lactose and maltose, using arabinose as an internal standard.

 

The sugars are extracted from the sample using a buffer. The obtained extract is deproteinized with a Carrez clarification. The samples are then diluted and filtered to be quantified by HPAEC-PAD. The sugar content is reported as grams of analyt per 100 grams of sample.
