CCIC EFT Shines at the China Special Food Conference!

The 9th China Special Food Conference, a key annual event for the special food industry, took place from October 15th to 18th in 2024 in Chengdu, Sichuan, with CCIC EFT proudly in attendance!

Representing us were Yubo Zhou, Bendert de Graaf, Arjan Koornstra, and Zexin Qian. We co-exhibited alongside China’s leading special food experts from the Technology Innovation Center of Special Food, State Administration for Market Regulation (TISF).

Over the course of two days, CCIC EFT engaged in meaningful exchanges with China's top special food enterprises, gaining valuable insights.

Our Key Takeaways:

1. Regulatory and Standards Insights

CCIC EFT gained in-depth insights into the latest regulations and policies on FSMP (Food for Special Medical Purpose) in China, particularly for special medical purpose formula, special medical infant formula, infant formula, and health foods. We followed many educative presentations regarding the differences between China and the EU regulations/policy in terms of limit requirements, registration processes, and emerging ingredients.

2. Technical Exchanges and Research Progress

We engaged in deep technical discussions with experts from China’s academic institutions, government regulators, and industry leaders, focusing on the latest research developments in special foods. Topics like new ingredients and testing methods (i.e. molecular weight distribution) were key areas of exploration, providing valuable knowledge that will enhance our testing capability and certification services.

3. Collaboration Opportunities and Market Outlook

Through conversations with both domestic and international companies in the special food sector—including global brands like Arla, Ausnutria, Mead Johnson, Nestlé, Synutra, etc—we gained a better understanding of their regulatory needs in China, especially around FSMP testing. In addition, we also engaged in fruitful discussions with international organizations like America dairy institute, European Chamber (EUCC), etc. These insights open up new opportunities for CCIC EFT’s service expansion and international partnerships.

4. Industry Future and Government Support

The conference further confirmed the strong government support for the special food industry and its promising future. Our interactions with government officials, academic researchers, and industry experts not only provided us with valuable knowledge but also helped us forge new connections and uncover potential collaborations with companies in this rapidly growing field.
